Black Friday Deals About Fitness Tracker and Smartwatch

Written by admin

Black Friday is one of the biggest events in the tech calendar and with the date set for 25 November 2016, it represents a great chance to bag a bargain fitness tracker, smartwatch, sports watch or VR headset.

While we might be a couple of weeks away from that date, that’s not stopped the likes of Amazon get in early on the sales action as well.

Last year demand spiked to Christmas levels, as an avalanche of devices were treated to big discounts. Every year the Black Friday gets bigger than the last and the day is now a global event. In fact, the prospect of cut-price wearable tech is so tantalising, it’s almost worth holding off that planned purchase until after the event.

But bagging a Black Friday deal isn’t a simple procedure, and bad planning can mean missing out on the best deals. All the major stores operate queuing systems to throttle demand, which means you can miss out on the best deals. What’s more, some stores such as Amazon limit offers to ‘lightning deals’ which means you only have a small time window to bag a bargain.

Where to shop

Amazon is pretty much the daddy when it comes to Black Friday, and every year it seems intent on going bigger than the year before. Just as the competition gets on-board with Black Friday, it’s starting its bargain bonanza earlier this year with its Black Friday Sales starting from the November 14 all the way through to the November 25. We’ll be updating this page with the best of the deals as they go live.

Amazon mixes ‘lightning deals’ (quick-fire hot bargains that now last four hours instead of one) with new ‘Best deals’ which sit for longer on the site, until stock is all gone.

Of course, the list of stores getting involved is endless. You’ll also need to check Best Buy, Target and all the big retailers. Everyone is at it.

In the UK, Argos is also planning to go early with its deals kicking off 13 days of Black Friday deals starting from November 18 continuing through to Cyber Monday.

We don’t know yet what kind of deals to expect, but the retailer has mentioned wearable tech such as Fitbit and VR headsets will be among the discounted devices.

Check Wareable for the hottest deals

So how do you bag a wearable deal? Well, if you’re looking for a wearable device, we’ve got your back. We’ll be updating this page with the deals as they land on our desks.

If you’re planning a Black Friday purchase, then what can you expect? Well, if you’re hoping to bag a cut-price Apple Watch Series 2 then you might be disappointed. Like any in-store sale, it’s usually the stuff that retailers want to get rid of that earns double-digit discounts.

We’ve used our experience of the wearables market and previous Black Fridays to hint what COULD appear in the bargain bins come November 25.

This is a bit of an expectation setting exercise. See below for five recommended devices that have hit end-of-life this year from companies that are usually active around discount season.

Garmin Forerunner 230/235

Garmin always discount heavily at Black Friday, and it could be a chance to bag a decent running watch. The range has been heavily updated and the new Garmin Forerunner 35 essentially replaces the Forerunner 230/235 range. The two devices were treated to a Prime Day discount back in July, so expect more on Black Friday.

Fitbit Charge HR

With a raft of new Fitbits hitting the market this year, there’s going to be a fair few older Charge HR devices sitting in warehouses and we smell a bargain. The Charge HR is still a decent device, offering heart rate tracking and decent step tracking.

Samsung Gear S2

The Samsung Gear S3 is set to drop at some point but we’re sure there will be a few Gear S2’s kicking about on Black Friday (just don’t call it a fire sale fnar). The Gear S2 did get treated to a very small price-cut on Prime Day, but we’d bet on bigger things this time around.

Huawei Watch

Huawei are always extremely active around the deals calendar, and its ageing Android Wear smartwatch looks to be a good candidate for deals. On Prime Day the Huawei Watch enjoyed over $100 discounts, which is impressive given the top-notch display.

Microsoft Band 2

RIP the Microsoft Band 2. Microsoft has officially canned the product and while it confirmed to Wareable that it had “sold through its inventory”, but there’s still plenty of stock at retailers. They’ll be pretty keen to see off the last Microsoft Bands, so expect hefty discounts.

Samsung Gear VR

Given the woes around the Note 7, we’d expect there to be a few more Samsung Gear VRs than normal kicking around this Holiday season? And what does that mean? A chance to make a saving on the already super-low price for Samsung and Oculus’ mobile headset. It still only accepts Samsung smartphones, which limits appeal, but look out for discounts.

Misfit Ray

Misfit usually make a decent play around Black Friday, and its Misfit Ray fitness tracker could get a discount either on retailers or Misfit’s own stores. Its one of the best-looking fitness trackers on the market, and easily blends into personal styles more neatly than your average Fitbit Blaze or Garmin.

Asus ZenWatch 2

The arrival of the ZenWatch 3 means that its predecessor looks nailed on for some decent discounting this Black Friday. The ZenWatch 2 was always a budget offering, which means this Black Friday it could be the pick of the cheap smartwatch crop.
