Ebooks, i.e., electronic books, are the Gen-Z way of reading texts, research papers, novels, and books.

Nowadays, almost all the books can be read as E-books and are made to by-pass print altogether as they are cheap, easily accessible, and environmentally friendly. They can consist simply of text or may contain extras, such as audio, video, or hyperlinks. They are super interactive and are very pandemic- friendly too.

What all do E-books offer?

Ebooks provide you speed; they are portable, i.e., highly suitable for traveling. They are super interactive, and readers can take notes, underline, bookmark pages, search, and gain extra information through hyperlinks.

They can be personalized according to one’s needs with the help of backlighting and font size increasing or decreasing. They are ideal for visually impaired and deaf people.

They nowadays come with searchable text, dictionaries, and other features, not to forget that they are environment friendly and make reading a lot easier and hassle-free. Especially in the time of the pandemic, e-books should be your go-to books as they are easily accessible through so many sites like this Google Books Download and do not require any form of physical contact.

What are the various ways to read an e-book?

There are various ways to read an e-book which include portable e-book reading devices, which are small handheld computers that mimic books, are the size of a paperback, run on battery power, and have a backlit screen.

For example, the very famous amazon kindle and Barnes and noble’s nook took the traditional publishing industry by storm.

And how can we forget – tablets, laptops, and computers.

Various formats of e-books

Ebooks come in various formats like EPUB ( .epub ), which is the most widely supported format and can be read on a variety of devices, including computers, smartphones, tablets, and most eReaders ( except kindles ).

In addition, they are reflow-able, i.e., they fit all types of screen. The other formats include AZW( .azw), which was developed by Amazon for its Kindle readers and is limited to kindle, and last would be PDF (.pdf) which is a portable document format.

They are commonly known for their easy-to-use interface and ability to hold custom layouts. Still, they are not reflowable, due to which they can be a little difficult to use, but despite that, they are still the most commonly used eBook formats.
